Former Family Court Judge
In a legal career spanning over 35 years, Roy L. Moore has earned a reputation for his principled, dedicated and compassionate approach to the practice of Family Law. After practicing family law for 18 years, Moore served as the Associate Judge and then the Presiding Judge of the 245th Family District Court for over 10 years. He has been Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2001 and promotes ethical and effective legal techniques through numerous speeches and presentations across Texas and has been a Adjunct Professor at South Texas College of Law for over 20 years. Roy knows that the future of Family Law in Texas and beyond is to ensure that future lawyers are instilled with the professionalism, dedication and ethics needed to help those in need regarding such delicate and potential traumatic situations involving the family.
Roy is a 5th generation Texan, and it is with great honor and privilege that he continues to serve his home state. In addition to being a practicing family lawyer, Moore served as a Captain in the Texas State Guard for over 10 years providing legal services for our boys in uniform and providing aid to Texas families in disasters such as hurricanes and floods during his tenure with the Guard.
As part of the Diamant Moore team, Roy brings the unique insight of a former Presiding Judge to every case as well as his experience as a family law litigator. Having presided and handled thousands of cases, he knows each client’s situation is unique and is able to bring real and practical insight into their situations as well as compassion. Roy has proven throughout his career that understanding, preparation and tenacity gets results.
Moore graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1985 with a B.S. in Engineering and was a practicing engineer until enrolling at South Texas College of Law, earning his J.D. in 1990.
A dedicated family man to his wife Jenny, daughter Molly and son Walker, Roy believes that family is most important, which carries over to his clients. Molly is studying nursing and will soon become a Registered Nurse. Walker attends Virginia Military Institute and hopes to serve his country upon graduation. No father could ever be prouder of both of his children as both wish to give back to their communities.
An avid golfer and amateur photographer, Roy looks forward to spending even more time with Jenny, travel and further service to his community now that Team Moore has become “Empty Nesters.”
