PERSONAL INJURY / TORTS

Personal Injury and Tort Law is a frequently misunderstood area of law. Black's Law Dictionary defines a "tort" as "a legal wrong committed upon the person or property independent of a contract." Torts stem from a duty of care that is violated by a person or company that injures another. That "duty of care" can arise from the general negligence standard, or statute / regulation and from other duties as well. While most people think of "personal injury" as just injuries to the body, injuries to the reputation can be torts as well (for example, libel and slander).

Personal injury and tort cases can come in a variety of forms. For example, personal injury and tort cases often involve:

  • Fire
  • Electrocution
  • Product Liability
  • Premises Liability
  • Medical, Nursing Home or Health Care Liability
  • Libel / Slander
  • and even Fraud

These types of cases can be found in all areas of life. Various tort cases we have been involved in or handled over the years have included:
