Hon. Roy L. Moore

OVERVIEW/EXPERIENCE

In a legal career spanning almost 30 years, Roy Moore has earned a reputation for his principled, dedicated and compassionate approach to the practice of family law. Moore served as Associate and Presiding Judge of the 245th Family District Court for over 10 years. He has been Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2001, and promotes ethical and effective legal techniques through the numerous speeches and papers he presents across Texas.

Moore is a 5th generation Texan, and it is with a great sense of honor and privilege that he serves his home state. Though his tireless efforts to secure justice and safety for Harris County families begin with his professional service, they certainly do not end there. As a Captain in the Texas State Guard, Roy is always prepared to provide aid to Texans when they need it most. With a constant eye toward the future, he has also sought to properly educate the next generations of Texas family lawyers by serving as an adjunct professor at the South Texas College of Law since 2003.

As a part of the team, Roy brings the unique insight of a former presiding judge to every case. He knows that every client’s situation is individual. Having resided over hundreds of cases, he’s able to bring real insight and compassion to each situation. Moore has proven that understanding and tenacity get results. His steadfast determination and deep understanding of Texas law provides the reassurance and guidance that clients deserve.

Moore graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1985 with a B.S. in Engineering. He later attended South Texas College of Law, where he earned his J.D. in 1990. He practiced family law for over 17 before his appointment as the Associate Judge of the 245th Family District Court in 2007 and was elected Presiding Judge of the 245th in 2010 and reelected unopposed in 2014.
